One player hums a tune with mouth closed. No words, no clapping, just the melody. Others guess. Once guessed, the guesser hums next. Works for any age with any musical repertoire, and children are frequently better at this than adults.
How to do it
- 1One player thinks of a song and hums it. Mouth closed. No rhythm-tapping, no clues.
- 2Others guess. First correct answer takes the next turn.
- 3If no one guesses in 30 seconds, reveal it and hum again before moving on.
- 4Children are usually better at this than adults. Let that fact stand.
Variations
- If they won't hum, ask them to think of a song silently while you guess the title — role flip removes performance pressure.
- How it ends: after 30 seconds with no guess, reveal the song and move to the next turn — don't linger on a wrong guess.

Children's repertoire of TV theme songs is enormous. They can hum 3 notes of a cartoon theme and be immediately identified. Let them show off.
